Full name Bruce Anthony Reid Born March 14, 1963, Osborne Park, Perth, Western Australia Major teams Australia, Western Australia Batting style Left-hand bat Bowling style Left-arm fast-medium
Bruce Reid was a tall and lanky left-arm fast bowler who made his debut along with Merv Hughes and Geoff Marsh in 1985-86 when Australia's cricketing curve was at an all time low. With a fantastic action and a technique that could trick any batsman, Reid soon became Australia's strike bowler. The highlight of his career came when he took 27 wickets in the five Tests of the 1990-'91 Ashes series. However his body was too thin to bear the pressures of pace bowling and he soon was a victim of innumerable injuries. Even though he recovered, he could not maintain his fitness and had to bow out of the game in 1992. He is at present the bowling coach of the Indian national team.
