When Michael Bevan was playing his best, there were few who could argue to the fact that he was the best one day batsman in the world. Coming to bat at number six, Michael Bevan, on more than one occasion, anchored Australia to a thrilling victory. While batting, Michael Bevan was a mathematician who could cut a clear bisection between two fielders and run the ball through, his timing was immaculate and so was his ability to take short runs. Michael Bevan's bowling was deceptively lethal. In the 1997-98 series Michael Bevan finished with best career figures of 10/113 against the West Indies. Michael Bevan's only grievance must be that he failed to make it big in test cricket. Inspite of being a good player of pace, Michael Bevan was always a suspect against short-pitched deliveries.

Michael Bevan had a wonderful time playing county cricket in England, from where he brought home a rich haul of runs. His first class cricket career was even more productive.Playing for Tasmania in 1992-93, Michael Bevan scored 1464 runs including eight centuries. His average of 97.60 made him an unbeatable contender for the Player of the Year Award, which he won that year.
