Michael Kasprowicz, or "Kasper", as he is affectionately called, made his debut for Queensland as a 17 year old in 1989-'90. He immediately caught the eyes of many as a very effective medium-fast bowler. After a successful First Class run, he was selected for the Australian national squad in 1996-'97 and debuted against the West Indies. He remained a permanent in the Australian team most of the time, being dropped occasionally. He faced competition from Andy Bichel and Brett Lee for a spot in the national squad and managed to hold his place till the 2005 Ashes loss to England. He was dropped following his below average performance and his contract with Cricket Australia has not been extended, thus hinting at a possible end to his long, successful career. He has specially been successful in the Indian subcontinent, with his reverse swing. Glen McGrath, Jason Gillespie and Kasprowicz were together the successful Australian pace trio. After being dropped from the national team, Michael Kasprowicz has gone back to playing for Queensland and is having a good outing with the ball for Queensland.
