Ray Lindwall

Full name Raymond Russell Lindwall
Born October 3, 1921, Mascot, Sydney, New South Wales
Died June 23, 1996, Greenslopes, Brisbane, Queensland
Major teams Australia, New South Wales, Queensland
Batting style Right-hand bat
Bowling style Right-arm fast

Remembered as one of the most successful bowlers of Australia, Ray Lindwall was a real match winner with his fast, yet accurate deliveries. A member of Bill O'Reilly's at Sydney's famous St George club, Ray Lindwall gave up rugby in favor of cricket after the Second World War, and was for a many years acknowledged as Australia's new-ball bowler, a winner under all circumstances. His strong, rhythmic line of attack, firm run and late swing silenced the whole cricketing world after a yorker of his bowled Len Hutton in the Headingley Test of July 1953 and it was received with the gravity of an announcement of war. He was a man of many talents, and like his famous bowling partner Keith Miller, Ray Lindwall was also very useful with the bat. The 1947-century he made in Melbourne is one of the fastest by any Australian. Cricketscorelive.com provides the profile of Ray Lindwall and other cricketers around the world.
