Tom Moody, standing tall at 6 feet 6 inches, has represented Australia in 8 Tests and 76 ODIs. He also has the rare distinction of having won two World Cups for Australia, along with Steve Waugh. He was a very handy middle order batsman who overcame an initial inability to play short balls, to become a dependable match winner for Australia. Not only was he a good batsman who excelled in playing shots all over the ground, but he was also a very useful medium pace bowler, and a brilliant slip fielder.
His test career was short, but his real talent was exposed in the shorter version of the game where he made 1211 runs and took 52 wickets. He was Wisden Cricketer of the Year in 2000. He also had a flourishing first class career and did particularly well for Western Australia, Warwickshire and Worcestershire. After retirement he has taken up coaching and has also worked in television. Currently he is coach of the Sri Lankan national team.
