Wisden Cricketer of the Year 2000
Andrew Caddick played his early cricket in New Zealand, where he was born. When Andrew Caddick toured England in 1987-88, to represent New Zealand in Youth World Cup, he decided to settle there.
Andrew Caddick made his debut for Somerset in 1991 and subsequently, test match debut in 1993. Inspite of having a wonderful bowling run-up and an almost perfect arm action, Andrew Caddick met with moderate success in international cricket. In 62 test matches, Andrew Caddick took 234 wickets at an average of 29.91. Though his haul of over 200 test wickets conferred to him an elusive berth among the few English bowlers, Andrew Caddick's test career was a frequent struggle for a place in the side.
Andrew Caddick retired from test cricket in 2003. He finished his last test, which was against Australia, with a ten-wicket haul. England won that match and Andrew Caddick left; with questions about his talent, unanswered.
