Graham Thorpe made a sparkling debut for England in 1993 against Australia and scored a century in his first match. He then went on to become one of the most stylish left handed batsman in the English side and scored runs at random pace. His good form continued right till 1998 when he was named Wisden Cricketer of the year. However in 2002 a well-publicized divorce led to his loss of form. He carried his emotional baggage to the cricketing field and all this led to him being dropped from the side. Stating that the constant traveling associated with cricket had caused the rift in his family, he retired from ODIs. In 2003, a more composed Thorpe returned to cricket and got a well deserved century. He continued to play till he reached his 100th Test. After being ignored for the 2005 Ashes series, he retired from international cricket and soon followed it up with his retirement from domestic cricket as well. After retirement he turned to coaching.
