John Snow was initially a specialist batsman, but he worked on his bowling and emerged as a quality bowler as well. He made his Test debut in 1965. In the 1970-'71 Ashes series, he took 31 wickets and that helped England win the series. John Snow was a hero after that.
Though a very composed man off field, John Snow was known for his temper and inappropriate behavior on it. This was especially evident in the 1971 Test against India when he barged Sunil Gavaskar at Lord's. Such acts led to him being dropped from the side on a few occasions. However, he played 49 Tests and took over 200 wickets to establish himself as one of the best English bowlers. He was Wisden Cricketer of the Year in 1973.
