As a fast bowler who could generate quite a bit of pace, Jonathan Agnew always looked at the funnier side of things. Of course, he did not find it so funny when the selectors choose to see through his more than impressive performance in the counties. He was the most consistent county bowler in the years 1987 and 88.
Jonathan Agnew had entered test cricket as an out-and-out rookie fast bowler in 1984 test series against the West Indies. It took him couple of years to put a leash on his pace and evolve as a matured and accurate bowler.
Jonathan Agnew has played only three test matches and three one days.
Jonathan Agnew can now be seen as a playful BBC cricket correspondent, he looks happy as a man who had lost his love but still found a way to stay close to it.
Jonathan Agnew has also authored a book on the life of a county cricketer titled 'Eight Days a Week'.
