Mike Smith represented England in five ODIs. However, he played most of his cricket for Middlesex, becoming one of the county's most successful cricketers till date. He was an opening batsman and his partnerships with Mike Brearley were quite famed. He made 19814 runs in domestic cricket, including 40 hundreds and 86 half centuries. He had a long career that spanned from 1959 to 1980. He was also a very good fielder and is credited for having held 218 catches in his career.
