When Robert Croft made his debut as a bowler for England against Pakistan in 1996, his confidence was as high as some of his flighted deliveries. Years of test cricket have exhausted that confidence and his off-breaks now come flatter at the batsmen.
However, it would be wrong to say that Robert Croft had a totally disastrous outing in test cricket. He too had his share of heroic moments. His last wicket stand with Angus Fraser against South Africa in 1998 series, where he made 37 not out, saved the test match for England.
After being in and out of the favors of selectors, Robert Croft announced his retirement in 2003 and decided to concentrate fully on the captaincy of his county, Glamorgan. His excellent leadership and his all round performance won Glamorgan the one-day league title in 2004. In the last two county championships, Robert Croft has scored 1451 runs and taken 122 wickets.
Robert Croft played in 21 test matches and took over 49 wickets.
