W.G. Grace stares out of the numerous photographs of his, with his runs-hungry eyes and a flowing beard. It is difficult to imagine W.G. Grace as young and clean-shaven and yet it is even more impossible to imagine cricket without W.G. Grace. W.G. Grace played cricket at the top level for 43 years. Though at the end of his first class career he averaged 39.45 runs, it may be noted that the same average was flying in the 60s in his heyday.

W.G. Grace became the first man to score a triple hundred when he scored 334 against Kent at Canterbury in 1876. He scored a double century over ten times in his long career and 124 centuries and three times he made over hundred runs in both innings. W.G.
