Stated by many as the best non-Test playing cricketer, Steve Tikolo is perhaps the greatest cricketer Kenya has produced. He is a good batsman and a very good captain as was seen in the way he led the side into the World Cup semi finals in 2003. He played 74 ODIs for Kenya and looks to improve his average with every match he plays. He has always led from the front and after the 2004 Champions Trophy chose to step down as skipper. But his place in the team itself was under threat when he spearheaded a protest against the management. However, the gloomy phase soon got over and Tikolo continued as captain.
