Dick Motz was a strong and stout fast bowler who played 32 Tests for New Zealand and holds the distinction of being the first New Zealander to take 100 test wickets. Though New Zealand won 4 Tests while he was in the team, Dick Motz remains as one of the finest bowlers of New Zealand. He took 19 wickets on his first tour to South Africa. He was also a very useful batsman, batting down the order and made many a useful contributions for the team. He used to score quick and dealt mostly in sixes. He has three fifties against his name. Unfortunately his career was cut short when he was diagnosed with a displaced vertebra. After quitting cricket, he became a taxi driver.
