Had it not been for the controversies, Glenn Turner would have played many more than the 41 Tests he played for New Zealand. After scoring 2991 runs at a brilliant average of 47, he made himself unavailable for selection following a dispute with the team management. However that did not mean the end of his cricketing career as he went on to have a flourishing career in the English county circuit playing for Worcestershire. In his 455 first-class matches, he scored a staggering 34,346 runs at an average of 49.70 that included 103 centuries. He was one of the very few players to get more than a hundred centuries.
Before his disagreement with the New Zealand board, Glenn Turner was a successful Test captain, having led the team in 10 Tests. Later in his life he also served as coach and manager for the national squad.
