Jack Kerr represented New Zealand in 7 tests in the years between 1931-1937. He was a batsman known for his cautious approach. However he was very strong off his legs. Having toured England twice, he had mixed luck with the bat on the two occasions. He failed the first time round in 1931, scoring just 2 and 0 in his debut match against England at the Lord's. His next tour in 1937 was better, where he scored 1,205 runs at an average of 31.71. He showed brilliant form towards the end of his career when he scored two centuries. He only made one half century his seven Tests - scoring 59 against England at Christchurch in 1932-33, but was far more effective in domestic cricket where he 4829 runs at an average of 32. 19. Also an accountant, Kerr was chairman of the New Zealand Cricket Council and manager of the New Zealand side in South Africa in 1953-54.
