James Marshall is a very handy player who can play as both opener and middle-order batsman. He was an opener for his province Northern Districts till 2004-05, and he has even been more successful opening the innings in domestic cricket. In February 2005 he was included in the ODI squad for the Australian series and just a few weeks later he debuted in tests as a middle order batsman. His twin brother Hamish played alongside him.
