Mark Greatbatch began his test career on a high note, by scoring a century on debut against England in 1988. The following year saw Mark Greatbatch play a dramatic match-winning knock of 146 against the Australians. The score remained his career best in test cricket.
Mark Greatbatch went on to play 41 test matches for New Zealand and scored 2021 runs at an average of 30.62. He also played in 84 ODIs and scored 2206 runs.
Mark Greatbatch announced his retirement in 1998. He now serves as a county coach for Warwickshire, with whom he has signed a three-year contract.
