Full name Scott Bernard Styris Born July 10, 1975, Brisbane, Queensland, Australia Playing role All-rounder Major teams New Zealand, Middlesex, Northern Districts Batting style Right-hand bat Bowling Style Right-arm medium
Scott Styris was initially a pace bowler who had to give up his bowling owing to injury and that is when he worked on his batting to develop into a specialist batsman. He played first class cricket in New Zealand for almost 10 years before he was called up to the national side. He got an opportunity in New Zealand's tour of Pakistan in 2002, but was unlucky as the match was abandoned due to a bomb blast. He finally got the chance to make his debut in West Indies in the same year. His career went off to a flying start and he scored a century and a half century on debut. He was also bowling occasionally and he soon set the New Zealand record for best bowling figures in ODIs by claiming 6 for 25 on the same tour. He has been consistently contributing ever since and has had a glorious run in his career so far.
