An extremely dependable batsman, Walter Hadlee played for New Zealand from the late 1930s to early 50s. He captained the weak New Zealand side without meeting with much success. Walter Hadlee played in 11 test matches and scored 543 runs at an average of 30.16. His first class record is more impressive with 7523 runs from 117 matches, at an average of 40.44. Walter Hadlee was a proud father of three sons, Richard, Dayle and Barry, all of who played test cricket.
