Mushtaq Ahmed has been very successful in his long career with Pakistan as a leg spinner. He has been the most effective bowler for Pakistan for many years, and though he has not played international cricket since 2003, he is still not forgotten. Ever since he has been sidelined from the Pakistani squad, he has played county cricket in England for Somerset, Surrey, and Sussex and been extremely effective, finishing as the top wicket taker in 2003. He is a class cricketer and many draw comparisons between him and Shane Warne. Though he has never been as popular as Warne, he has taken just under 350 international wickets. He had been called up to the national team in 2004, but didn't get a game to prove his worth, and with the emergence of Danish Kaneria as the leading leg spinner for Pakistan, the chances of a comeback by Mushtaq Ahmed remain slim.
