Salman Butt has emerged as a very useful opening batsman for Pakistan who is known to play long innings that not only helps build a large total for the team, but also helps the other batsman lower down the order to play with ease. After making a mark in the Under 19 World Cup and in South Africa, Butt was selected for the national team for the India and West Indies tours. He ceased the opportunity and made a brilliant hundred against India in Jamshedpur. Because of his wristy play and strength on the off side, he has often been compared to Saeed Anwar. He continues to play consistently well and has cemented his place in the side. Though criticized as being defensive at times, Salman Butt constantly improves his game and remains a very promising youngster.
