Saqlain Mushtaq had a very impressive start to his international career. He also became the fastest bowler to take 100 wickets. He is credited with inventing the "doosra", a special ball that spins away from the batsman. He is praised for his action that sees a lot of variation and considerable pace. Saqlain Mushtaq is specially remembered for his performance in the 1998-'99 Chennai Test where his 10 wicket haul helped Pakistan snatch a phenomenal victory from India. However, with the emergence of Shoaib Malik, who is a quality spinner and also a good batsman and an ODI specialist, and Danish Kaneria, undoubtedly the best Test spinner for Pakistan at the moment, Saqlain Mushtaq has found it difficult to hold his place in the side. He got an opportunity against India at Multan in 2003-'04, but was ineffective. After being dropped from the Pakistani side, he has been playing county cricket in England.
