Umar Gul has represented Pakistan in 10 Tests and 19 ODIs and in his short career has been successful in making a mark. He was called up to the team after Pakistan fared poorly in the 2003 World Cup. He was expected to deliver as a strike bowler and did not disappoint. He is a very disciplined fast bowler and his capability to swing the ball on both sides of the wicket makes him such a dangerous bowler. His biggest achievement till date has been his performance against India in the 2003-’04 Lahore Test where he ran through the very strong Indian batting line up and put Pakistan in a strong position after picking up 5 for 31 in the first innings. With so much talent and a determination to better his skills with every match he plays, Umar Gul will surely emerge as one of Pakistan’s top fast bowlers in the years to come.
