Yasir Hameed made a dream start in international cricket by scoring two centuries on debut and thereby becoming only the second Pakistani to do so. He made his Test debut in 2003 against Bangladesh, having already played a few ODIs. He scored prolifically towards the beginning of his career and after 30 ODIs became the cricketer with the most number of runs scored. He however could not maintain consistency and lost his place in the squad soon. His technique was not proper and he tended to get out on the off side a lot. In his absence from the side, Pakistan procured the services of other openers like Salman Butt who came good and in so doing made it very difficult for Yasir Hameed to make a comeback. However, Hameed did get an opportunity in 2005 to play in the series against England and with scoring a half century in the series, he will fancy his chances of a comeback to the Pakistan team.
