Barry Richards played only four Tests for South Africa and it was indeed a loss to world cricket that a talent as magnificent as his could not be displayed. He was a master batsman capable of playing shots all over the ground. He remains perhaps the greatest opener South Africa has ever produced. In his short career, he scored 508 runs at an average of 72.57. After South Africa's ban from international cricket, Barry Richards moved to England and played county cricket.
