Easily the best batsman the island has ever produced, Aravinda de Silva was truly world class. When Aravinda de Silva was in flow the only one who could dismiss him was the great man himself. Often carried away by his sheer range of shorts, Aravinda de Silva would play a loose short and get himself out. For his reckless batting, Aravinda de Silva was called Mad Max. Aravinda de Silva was a part of Sri Lanka's successful campaign in 1999 World Cup. In the final against Australia, Aravinda de Silva made a splendid century and took three wickets, earning himself the Man of the Match award. Aravinda de Silva has scored centuries in both innings of a test match twice. He is probably the only batsman to score a double century in his final test; he also took a wicket with his final delivery in test cricket.

Aravinda de Silva played in 93 test matches and scored 6361 runs at an average of 42.97. His one-day record reads 9284 runs in 308 matches at an average of 34.90. Cricketscorelive.com gives information on Aravinda de Silva and other Great Cricket Players.
