Colin Croft belonged to that school of fast bowling which believed that a fast bowler was no gentleman, and should never pretend to be one. Colin Croft, perhaps followed the belief a little too zealously, for in his short but fruitful career, he earned the notoriety of being a very mean bowler. Colin Croft's towering 6 foot 6 figure combined with lethal pace would have been dangerous enough had it not been for the attitude which seemed to say that a batsman retired hurt is as good as declared out. Colin Croft's 8 for 29 against Pakistan in 1977 is still the best bowling figures for West Indies. Colin Croft played in 27 tests and took 125 wickets at an average of 23.30 runs per wicket.
