Frank Worrell, along with Sir Clyde Walcott and Everton Weekes, formed the famous "W" trio. Frank Worrell was an accomplished batsman who played 51 Tests, scoring 3860 runs at an average of 49.48. He was also a good bowler and took 69 Test wickets at an average of 38. Frank Worrell became the first black cricketer to captain West Indies for an entire season. He was a thorough gentleman and never contested an umpire's decision.
He retired from cricket in 1963 and became a warden at the University of West Indies. He was a man with a big heart that won him many friends in his life. He was a sportsman in the truest sense of the word and when he died an untimely death at the age of just 42, the world mourned at the loss of a good cricketer and a great human being.
