Lawrence Rowe was a small built cricketer whose career was plagued by a lot of injuries and illness. He played Test cricket for West Indies and was considered by many as one of the greatest batsmen of his time. He played 30 Tests, scoring 302 runs at an average of 43.55, and 11 ODIs in which he scored 136 runs at an average of 16. He was a dangerous player at home, and specially on his home ground in Sabina Park. He is the only cricketer to score a double century and century in his debut match, where he had score of 214 and 100 not out in the two innings. Rowe is however, infamous for having led a rebel team of cricketers to South Africa during the apartheid. Following the incident, he was in the eye of a public storm and that led to him being detested in Jamaica.
