Full name Ridley Detamore Jacobs Born November 26, 1967, Swetes Village, Antigua Major teams West Indies, Antigua, Leeward Islands Batting style Left-hand bat Fielding position Wicketkeeper
A talented keeper-batsman for West Indies, Ridley Jacobs was unfortunate enough to make his test debut as late as at 31 in the away series against South Africa in 1998. The series brought much woe to West Indies, which was already in the process of decline; but Ridley Jacobs topped the batting average and proved his value to the team.
Ridley Jacob scored his maiden century against South Africa in Barbados in 2001. In spite of possessing a technique that would have elicited a snigger from purist's face, Ridley Jacob was fairly successful with the bat. In 65 test matches that he played, Ridley Jacobs scored 2577 runs at an average of 28.31. He also made 147 one-day appearances and aggregated 23.31.
Towards the end of his career, Ridley Jacobs proved tardy as a keeper and his knee had never been more troublesome. He retired in 2004 from test cricket.
