Mark Vermeulen is an opening batsman who has represented Zimbabwe in 32 ODIs and 8 Tests. Mark Vermeulen had an impressive run in domestic cricket and after leading the under 19 side, he was selected in the Zimbabwe national squad for the Pakistan tour of 2002. He wasn’t particularly able to carry his good first class form into international cricket, but did play a few good innings from time to time. He however had a disciplinary problem and was even once suspended for dissent. Known for his ill temper and occasional inappropriate behavior on field, Mark Vermeulen is also a good slip fielder. He suffered some very grave injuries while playing cricket. He fractured his skull in early 2003 while practicing and to make matters worse, he fractured it again later that year in a game against India. However he has recovered from it and is fit to play cricket once again. Mark Vermeulen was one of the few players who did not join the rebel group of players and hence was available for selection. However, he was not selected and has played very little international cricket since May 2005.
